Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have received public recognition for a $2 million donation to a nonprofit supporting families of fallen first responders, the latest acknowledgment of the couple’s extensive charitable giving tied to their wedding at Madison Square Garden.
Answer The Call, which assists loved ones of New York City police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians who died in the line of duty, posted its gratitude on Instagram July 24. “Taylor and Travis, thank you for your incredible generosity and for standing with the families of fallen New York City first responders,” the organization said. “Your gift will make a tangible difference in their lives.”
The nonprofit also featured Amanda Rivera, whose father died serving as a first responder in 2004. Rivera credited the group with connecting her to others who shared her experience and lifting her family through difficult times. A devoted Swift fan who also roots for the Giants, she said the contribution carried special significance for her.
Massive Giving Campaign Linked to Wedding
The billionaire pop star and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end channeled $26 million to various causes in conjunction with their star-studded ceremony, which took place July 3 at Madison Square Garden and attracted both admirers and criticism throughout New York City. According to Swift’s publicist, at least 20 local and national groups received funds, and the newlyweds also helped cover extra security expenses.
Recipients announced before the wedding ceremony included nine food banks, an animal-welfare organization, seven educational initiatives and three children’s hospitals. Among them: City Harvest, Food Bank For NYC, New York Cares, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Harvesters — The Community Food Network, the national hunger-relief nonprofit Feeding America, the ASPCA animal-welfare group, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Nine of the selected charities were New York-based. Musical Mentors, which connects music instructors with students in need, was among them. Others reflected the couple’s personal ties: the Rhode Island Community Food Bank operates near Watch Hill, where Swift owns property, and Children’s Mercy Hospital serves Kansas City, Missouri, home to the Chiefs. Still more went to the Nashville, Tennessee, grocery initiative The Store; the Pennsylvania food bank Helping Harvest in Reading; and medical programs such as the pediatric cancer program MSK Kids at Memorial Sloan Kettering and the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone.
Food Banks and Stars Announce Their Shares
Though the couple did not publish a breakdown, several organizations disclosed what they received. City Harvest confirmed $1 million, with chief executive Jilly Stephens calling it a love letter to New York while pointing out that demand at city food pantries remains at levels close to historic peaks. The food bank serving Rhode Island also received $1 million; chief executive Melissa Cherney called the contribution unexpected and said it would help restock the pantries her group serves.
Country music icon Dolly Parton posted a video on Instagram the morning of July 2 revealing a $2 million gift to her book-giveaway program. She expressed her thanks and jokingly said she wanted dibs on the couple’s first child, forecasting the baby would be particularly extraordinary.
Such large-scale philanthropy continues a pattern for both. Swift donated millions to food banks in cities hosting stops on her Eras Tour, while Kelce has earned recognition from the Chiefs for his performance in team charitable competitions and operates his own nonprofit. The two have been a couple since 2023, a relationship that has generated intense worldwide interest.
Training Camp Looms as Honeymoon Ends
The wedding celebration unfolded across two days at the famed arena, with a smaller rehearsal dinner followed by a larger event. Famous guests packed the ceremony. Afterward, the couple spent several days in Montana before going to the nuptials of JuJu Smith-Schuster, the former Chiefs wide receiver.
Kelce’s downtime is about to end. Chiefs veterans report July 28 for training camp. The team is working to bounce back after missing the postseason for the first time in more than a decade, and Kelce chose to play rather than retire, inking a new three-year deal to continue his career for another season.
