A tourist died at a luxury resort’s water slide. The incident, caught on video, initially went unnoticed by fellow swimmers.
Ali Cilga, the 65-year-old victim, was at a five-star resort in Manavgat, Turkey, vacationing with his family. A tragic event unfolded on June 26 as Cilga, descending headfirst down the water slide, hit his head on the concrete pool floor.
The incident’s footage shows several swimmers unknowingly passing by the injured Cilga. His immobile body was eventually spotted by a few perceptive tourists who swiftly got him out of the pool. A man, believed to be the hotel’s lifeguard, made an effort to revive Cilga.
Prior to the accident, lifeguards had warned Cilga about the hazards of going down the slide head first. Despite these warnings, Cilga chose to disregard them.
After the accident, Cilga, a Turkish national whose exact residence is unknown, was urgently transported to a nearby hospital. However, his injuries were grave and he died on July 3.
The family was visiting the resort on the occasion of the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday.
In response to the incident, authorities have ordered an autopsy and are investigating the circumstances surrounding Cilga’s tragic death.
