Jeopardy Host Makes Hilarious Appeal to Fans

The oldest rule of the internet is never to read the comments, and the man behind the “Jeopardy!” podium decided to break it on camera.

Ken Jennings, the 52-year-old host of “Jeopardy!,” read viewer comments about himself aloud in a video posted Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, to the quiz show’s official Instagram and TikTok accounts. He filmed it behind his podium on the Alex Trebek Stage, and the caption ran four words: “You commented. He reacted.”

“Hey, this is Ken Jennings here on the Alex Trebek stage,” he said. “They say to never read the comments, but I’m going to break that rule right now, and I’m going to read some of your internet comments about me.” Then came the disclaimer: “This is a mistake.”

Stuck on the Punctuation

The first comment came from a fan who called him a handsome, cute, funny, smart and intelligent man, said his wife was very lucky, and added that it was too bad he wasn’t part of their “family” group. Jennings smiled and shook his head in disbelief — and then got hung up on something else entirely.

“OK, why is family in quotes?” he asked.

Jennings has been married to Mindy Jennings since 2000, and the couple share two kids, which may explain why the quotation marks around “family” stopped him cold.

A second viewer turned territorial, writing that they didn’t want others finding out Jennings is “kind of hot” and claiming him as their “hear me out” — internet slang for someone considered unconventionally attractive. He smiled, chuckled to himself and repeated the line back to the camera, slowly.

Andy Richter’s Two-Word Review

Comedian Andy Richter, Conan O’Brien’s former sidekick, turned up among the commenters. “So hot!” Richter commented.

Richter has appeared on “Celebrity Jeopardy!” four times, and Jennings put a motive to the flattery, joking that Richter was only kissing up because he wants another invitation back.

From “Omegaverse” to “Pen Jennings”

Jennings also fielded comments about the funny videos the show shares online, about its quiz categories and about fan art. One viewer wanted to know why the show’s “Pregnancy” category skipped “Omegaverse,” a niche internet romance trope. Another posted artwork along with a note explaining that they had nicknamed their cannabis vape pen “Pen Jennings.”

Jennings summed up the direction of the submissions as “weird and weirder.” He signed off cheerfully, said he loved the comments, and added that he loved that the show was effectively encouraging stranger and stranger submissions in the hope he would answer them on camera. He called the whole exercise an excellent use of social media. He did not say whether he will open the comments again.

The Bus Stop Poster Joke

The host has turned the camera on himself before. In September he posted an Instagram photo of his face on a “Jeopardy!” bus stop poster, joking in the caption that it looked like one of those 1990s sex thrillers starring actor Stephen Baldwin.

Jennings began hosting in 2021, months after Alex Trebek died in 2020 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He shared hosting duties with Mayim Bialik until 2023 and has been the sole host since December 2023.

The show returned for its 43rd season in September, fresh off another Creative Arts Emmy win for Outstanding Game Show. It airs weekdays and streams the next day on Hulu and Peacock.
