The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has now determined the cause of death to be a result of cocaine and ethanol toxicity. The death has been ruled as accidental, with the case status remaining open.
Nichole Coats, the deceased, was discovered by her father and aunt who had grown concerned after not hearing from her for several days. Upon their discovery, the scene raised suspicions.
Coats’ aunt recounted the unusual position of the body, with one leg raised in what appeared to be a kicking position. Additionally, her bed was bloodied, leading her family to believe that there might have been foul play involved. Coats’ mother has expressed her grief and anguish over her daughter’s untimely death, urgently seeking answers.
However, complicating the narrative, a fellow model, Maleesa Mooney, 31, was found dead in her downtown Los Angeles apartment just two days after the discovery of Coats. Mooney’s death was investigated as a homicide due to indications of homicidal violence. This subsequent death raised eyebrows and instigated rumors about a possible connection between the two cases.
The Los Angeles Police Department, in response to these speculations, stated that there was no evidence to suggest that the deaths of Coats and Mooney were related. Their stance is supported by the findings of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, who concluded that Coats died accidentally from an overdose of cocaine and ethanol.
Combining cocaine and alcohol can be extremely dangerous. The combination is known to cause cardiotoxic effects, significantly enhancing the risk of a potentially fatal overdose. The American Addiction Centers have warned against the combined use of these substances, citing the heightened dangers they present when consumed together.
However, despite the official report and expert opinions, Coats’ family remains distraught and skeptical. Given the condition in which her body was found, they find it hard to accept that her death was merely an accident. The presence of blood and the positioning of her body have given rise to their doubts. They continue to believe that something more sinister might have been at play.
The death of Maleesa Mooney, while ruled as a result of homicidal violence, also remains shrouded in mystery. The police have yet to make any arrests connected to her case, even though it’s treated as a homicide.
