Six people were found dead and another critically injured following a house fire in Green Pond, South Carolina.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office announced on Sunday night, July 2, that the incident, which occurred at a home on Folly Creek Lane, is being investigated as a potential murder.
At around 11 am on Sunday, deputies responded to reports of a fire at the location, as per a news release issued by the sheriff’s office.
The identities of the six victims who lost their lives in the fire have not been disclosed by the Colleton County Coroner’s Office. Additionally, information about the causes of their deaths remains unavailable.
According to the news release, one survivor was discovered at the scene and was immediately transported to a local hospital. The sheriff’s office confirmed that this person is in critical condition, though no further details about their status have been made available.
In connection with the incident, 33-year-old Ryan Lenard Manigo has been arrested and charged with attempted murder of the surviving victim. The sheriff’s office indicated that additional charges are pending, subject to the identification of the deceased victims and the results of their autopsies. Details about Manigo’s arrest have not been made public.
Manigo is currently being held at the Colleton County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing, according to the jail records.
