Former CNN host Don Lemon expressed his unwavering commitment to truth and his refusal to provide a platform for “liars and bigots” during his first television interview since his departure from the network after being fired.
In his first television appearance following his exit from CNN, former host Don Lemon reaffirmed his staunch opposition to misinformation and bigotry.
Lemon emphasized his duty, as both a journalist and a US citizen, to stand by the truth and uphold constitutional principles. He made it clear that he stands for justice and does not equate those who spread misinformation and bigotry with those who respect the Constitution.
Lemon insisted that allowing individuals who dismiss authentic election results, support insurrections, or circulate untruths to share the same platform would be a violation of his journalistic responsibilities. He attributed his professional achievements to his commitment to constitutional principles, notably the First Amendment, which assures freedom of speech and the press. Concerning his future career plans, Lemon conveyed that he isn’t hastily seeking a new venture and won’t allow others’ expectations to control his decisions.
The reason behind Lemon’s dismissal from CNN was reportedly a heated live debate with Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy. Before his exit, Lemon was shifted to a morning slot after losing his solo prime time anchor role, following a backlash over his remarks about presidential contender Nikki Haley and women’s soccer that resulted in sensitivity training and a public apology.
Despite the ambiguity surrounding his future professional pursuits, Lemon says that his commitment to truth and the Constitution remains undeterred.
