A 60-year-old man tragically lost his life when an enraged bull attacked and fatally wounded him in Ellis County, Texas.
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 2:03 pm on Monday, April 24, informing them of a potential fatality caused by a raging bull.
Witnesses told police that the victim’s father, who had called 911 after finding his son injured, attempted to protect him during the incident.
Alfred Limon, a longtime acquaintance of the victim’s family, described the tragic event. According to Limon, the victim had been working on the family’s property, demolishing a fence to replace it with a new one. While engaged in this task, he noticed the bull.
Limon said that when the victim’s father saw his son was injured by the bull, he backed up his pickup truck halfway off the road, but it was already too late for the victim.
Responding to the distress call, deputies arrived at the scene on and discovered the bull causing property damage. The animal’s aggressive behavior made it impossible for first responders to reach the injured man. Neighbors came forward to assist the victim and help subdue the bull.
Subsequently, deputies resorted to fatally shooting the bull, allowing them to tend to the injured man. Although efforts were made to revive him, including CPR, it was too late, and paramedics declared him dead at around 2:07 pm. Deputies called an air ambulance to the scene but could not transport the victim to the hospital as he had already succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have not disclosed details of the bull’s ownership and origin. The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the fatal incident.
