Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding plans have undergone a dramatic transformation, with the couple reconsidering nearly every detail of their highly anticipated nuptials after months of speculation.
The shift reflects a major expansion in scope. Swift and Kelce are now planning for roughly 300 guests, a stark departure from the intimate, family-focused event first discussed after their August 2025 engagement.
The pop superstar “went back and forth” for weeks before settling on the grander vision. Swift ultimately decided she wanted a full celebration filled with joy, particularly since she views this as her “one and only” wedding. Despite the larger scale, the couple doesn’t want anything “super huge” or pretentious, insiders say. Swift is leading the planning with Kelce’s help, and sources say she wants the process to feel grounded rather than chaotic.
For months, rumors swirled that the ceremony would take place on June 13, 2026, at either the Ocean House hotel or Swift’s longtime residence in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The date seemed to check her well-known affection for the number 13 and would have fallen on her half-birthday.
Speculation grew so intense that reports emerged claiming Swift had offered substantial money to another bride to relinquish her Ocean House booking for that date. But Stephanie Leavitt, Ocean House’s Area Director of Sales & Marketing, shut that down, telling TMZ the venue “would not and is not allowing another party or entity to buy a wedding group out of a contracted wedding date.”
The expanded guest list outgrew what Watch Hill could accommodate, prompting the couple to explore alternatives, including a Tennessee location or a private island.
New York City is now the reported destination. Save-the-date cards have gone out confirming July 3 as the wedding date, a midsummer choice connected to Swift’s famous love of Fourth of July celebrations. The city has long been woven into Swift’s personal and artistic life, and she served as NYC’s Global Welcome Ambassador for 2014–2015.
Timing remains tight. The wedding could happen before Kelce’s training camp starts in late July. Kelce recently announced he’ll return for his 14th season with the Kansas City Chiefs, crediting his fiancée with motivating his decision.
“Everybody [loved ones, close friends] has been told to put the summer on hold, and they will find out the details right before the wedding,” a source said.
One thing appears certain: Swift isn’t interested in an outdoor ceremony like Selena Gomez’s recent wedding to Benny Blanco. The event will likely take place indoors. Gomez and Blanco are expected on the guest list, along with Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. Blake Lively, however, is “unlikely” to receive an invitation.
The couple announced their engagement on Aug. 26, 2025, posting on Instagram: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Kelce had proposed in a romantic garden setting he secretly constructed at his Kansas City-area home during their two years of dating.
Swift discussed the proposal on “The Graham Norton Show,” which aired on October 3, the same day she released her twelfth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
“He really crushed it in surprising me,” Swift said. “While we were talking on his podcast, he had a complete garden built out the back of his house to propose in. He went all out, 10 out of 10.”
Kelce addressed wedding planning on the September 17 episode of “New Heights,” which featured Jimmy Fallon as a guest. “I just gotta figure out how to win a football game first,” he said. “That’s gonna be easy compared to figuring out how to catch a […] football.”
Swift has shared relationship insights in her docuseries “The End of an Era.” Sources say Kelce has helped her feel more vulnerable, playful, and herself in public settings. While the couple has discussed starting a family after marriage, the immediate priority is pulling off the celebration itself.
Whether the final destination turns out to be Tennessee, Tribeca, a private island, or somewhere completely unexpected, the calendars are cleared and guests are standing by, waiting for details that will arrive exactly when Swift and Kelce decide the time is right.
