Kamala Harris Made HUGE Move Nobody Saw Coming

Former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff have purchased a stunning $8.15 million mansion in the exclusive Point Dume neighborhood of Malibu, marking a significant upgrade from their Brentwood home that was under evacuation orders during the devastating California wildfires.

The move comes as the couple transitions into post-political life following the 2024 election, with both Harris and Emhoff expanding their professional ventures while maintaining a high-profile presence in California. The Point Dume property, perched atop a 63-acre bluff with sweeping coastal views, offers enhanced security and privacy in one of Los Angeles County’s most coveted neighborhoods—home to celebrities including Julia Roberts, Jeff Bezos, and Bob Dylan.

Harris and Emhoff demonstrated their commitment to wildfire relief efforts by attending the star-studded FireAid benefit concert at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood on January 30. The couple received thunderous cheers and applause when spotted in the audience, with attendees standing to take photos of the former Vice President and Second Gentleman.

The FireAid concerts, organized by music industry veterans Irving and Shelli Azoff in partnership with Live Nation and the Annenberg Foundation, featured performances at both the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum. Green Day opened the Kia Forum show and joined Billie Eilish for “Last Night on Earth,” while surprise guest Dr. Dre joined Anderson.Paak on stage. The stacked lineup included Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Sting, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Comedian Billy Crystal delivered a heart-wrenching speech about losing the Pacific Palisades home where he had lived for 46 years. “I stepped onto the grounds and fell to my knees and I wailed,” Crystal told the audience. The concerts raised an estimated $100 million and streamed live on numerous platforms, including Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube.

Harris demonstrated immediate action following President Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, leaving the ceremony and traveling directly to Altadena, where she met with volunteers and first responders battling the Eaton Fire. She and Emhoff visited a World Central Kitchen location, the nonprofit founded by chef José Andrés, where volunteers were organizing free meals for displaced residents.

The couple also checked on their Brentwood home, which had been placed under an evacuation order during the fires. Police responded to a report of a possible burglary on January 11, detaining two individuals found near the property during curfew hours.. However, no evidence of burglary or forced entry was found, and the individuals were released after being cited for curfew violations. Harris was not present at the home during the incident.

Emhoff has returned to private practice as a partner at bicoastal law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher, splitting his time between Los Angeles and New York. The firm announced his hire on January 27, 2025, noting his three decades of experience as a litigator and trial lawyer. He will continue serving as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and on the board of trustees for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Harris has formed an LLC called Pioneer49, signaling her next political or business move may be on the horizon. The name combines her Secret Service codename, “Pioneer,” with her status as the 49th Vice President—mirroring former President Barack Obama’s Renegade44 organization. Harris announced in July 2025 that she would not run for Governor of California in 2026, ending months of speculation following her presidential election loss. The decision leaves open the possibility of a 2028 presidential run.

The FireAid appearance marked the second time in just over a week that the couple stepped out for wildfire relief efforts, demonstrating their continued engagement with California communities despite no longer holding federal office.

The Malibu mansion—a 4,000-square-foot, four-bedroom home with private beach access—represents a significant investment in the couple’s post-election life. The property, built in 1979 and set behind secured gates, last sold in 2012 for $2.61 million, reflecting the dramatic appreciation in Southern California real estate. The couple’s Brentwood home was separately purchased by Emhoff in 2012 for $2.7 million. Whether the couple will keep their Brentwood home as a secondary residence or sell it remains unclear.

As Harris and Emhoff settle into their new Point Dume home, their continued involvement in California causes and potential political ambitions keep them firmly in the public eye—with the former Vice President’s next chapter among the most closely watched questions in Democratic politics.
