Lady Gaga Stuns With Unexpected Announcement

Lady Gaga has announced she’s getting married “soon” to her fiancé Michael Polansky, delivering the news in a surprising way that has fans excited about the long-awaited wedding.

The 39-year-old pop icon phoned into Bruno Mars’ iHeartRadio livestream “Romantic Radio” on Friday, March 6, requesting that Mars dedicate a special tune to her and Polansky as they prepare to wed. Mars, 40, instantly knew who was calling and chose “Risk It All,” the opener from his February 2026 album “The Romantic,” as a possible first-dance selection for the couple.

The wedding news follows nearly two years after Gaga confirmed her engagement to Polansky, a tech entrepreneur and Harvard graduate, in July 2024. She made the announcement in a memorable moment at the Paris Olympics, introducing him as her fiancé during a conversation with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

The pair met in December 2019 at Sean Parker’s 40th birthday party in Los Angeles. They were photographed kissing at a New Year’s Eve event in Las Vegas and revealed their relationship publicly soon after the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. They spent the COVID-19 lockdown together at Gaga’s Malibu residence, where their relationship grew closer.

Polansky proposed during a rock climb on April Fools’ Day 2024, but he waited until they returned to the base—storing the ring in his backpack—for safety before popping the question. In a typically considerate move, he asked permission before proposing.

The engagement influenced one of the most intimate tracks on Gaga’s March 2025 album “MAYHEM”—Polansky served as co-executive producer and co-writer on several songs. The track “Blade of Grass” came from a private backyard chat about how he might propose; Gaga told the BBC that he once asked how to do it, and she replied to “Just get a blade of grass from the backyard and wrap it around my finger.”

Regarding wedding arrangements, Gaga has suggested she prefers something low-key, though she admits plans could change. She’s joked about a courthouse ceremony with Chinese takeout but also said it might turn into “a circus with unicorns.”

In November 2025, Polansky discussed their timeline with Rolling Stone, saying they talk about marriage “all the time” and favor an intimate ceremony over an extravagant event. Their Mayhem Ball tour is set to end at Madison Square Garden in April 2026.

Their collaboration goes beyond music—Gaga routinely praises Polansky as her closest friend and strongest supporter, crediting him with understanding who she really is beneath the pop persona. She dedicated her 2025 MTV Video Music Awards Artist of the Year win to “my partner in all things, Michael.”

On “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in October 2025, Gaga (born Stefani Germanotta) spoke about her next major aspiration: becoming a mother. When asked about future plans, she said plainly: “What I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”

Wedding preparations and prenup discussions were reportedly in motion by August 2024, according to multiple outlets at the time. With Gaga’s recent confirmation that the wedding is “soon,” fans are watching to see whether they’ll opt for a simple courthouse ceremony with takeout or the whimsical unicorn-filled celebration she joked about.

One thing is clear: whether they pick Bruno Mars’ “Risk It All” or Gaga’s “Blade of Grass,” their wedding soundtrack will carry personal significance.
