Donald Trump Defends Barron After Cruel Rumors

Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump, is navigating his sophomore year at New York University’s Stern School of Business while living at the White House in Washington, D.C. Recent reports have sparked questions about whether the youngest Trump is struggling to adjust to college life, but the president has addressed those concerns directly.

After spending his freshman year commuting from Trump Tower in Manhattan to NYU’s Greenwich Village campus, Barron has transferred to the university’s Washington, D.C. campus. The satellite campus location allows him to remain close to his family while continuing his business studies.

Kaya Walker, the former president of NYU College Republicans, told Vanity Fair that Barron was an oddity on campus who went to class and then went home. The comment, though relatively benign, sparked backlash and drew attention to the scrutiny surrounding the president’s son. Walker’s observation highlighted what some perceived as Barron’s limited social engagement at the university.

President Trump addressed the rumors during a golf outing with his granddaughter, Kai Trump, which was featured on her YouTube series. When Kai asked how Barron was doing at NYU, the president replied, “Good, he’s doing good.” He added that Barron is a good boy who loves Kai and mentioned that Barron had asked him to say hello to his niece. When Kai asked when Barron’s classes would resume, Trump indicated they would start again “on Tuesday.”

The video provided a rare glimpse into the Trump family dynamics and offered the president’s perspective on his son’s college experience. The conversation was recorded in late August and released on Kai’s YouTube channel on October 11.

Despite reports suggesting Barron keeps to himself, sources have painted a different picture of his social life. A source told People last year that Barron is a “ladies’ man” who is popular with female students at NYU. The source described him as tall and handsome, noting that a lot of people seem to think he is attractive. Another fellow student reportedly told Page Six that while Barron is tall and awkward, he had a lot of girls running after him.

Page Six also reported that Barron shut down an entire floor of Trump Tower in New York for a date, suggesting he has made time for romance despite his academic commitments. The outlet’s reports indicate that the youngest Trump has managed to balance his studies with a social life, contradicting the narrative that he solely focuses on coursework.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Barron has been actively working on his own financial interests. A source told People that Barron has spent time with partners exploring technology projects and new ventures. Reports from Newsweek shortly after President Trump took office for a second time indicated that Barron was looking to start his own real estate company.

Another source explained to People that Barron wants to follow in his father’s footsteps, which means focusing on business ideas. The source said Barron is interested in business in general, developing properties, making money, and being involved in successful projects. They noted that he has his own ideas and understands what people of his age are looking for, describing him as entrepreneurial, bright, and not shy about getting his own career in gear.

Some reports suggest Barron’s personal net worth could already be in the nine-figure range due to investments in tech-driven assets and early business collaborations. He has reportedly been exploring cryptocurrency and digital finance projects. It’s widely reported that Barron has introduced his family to cryptocurrency.

Barron also played a significant role behind the scenes during his father’s 2024 presidential campaign. First Lady Melania Trump stated that Barron was crucial in securing the presidential election victory, noting he was very vocal behind the scenes and knew who his father needed to contact. She praised her son’s political savvy and his ability to advise the president on connecting with young voters.

During the campaign, Barron provided insights into reaching young voters through platforms like TikTok. His recommendations for podcasts and media appearances were credited with driving strong ratings and engagement. Jack Advent, President Trump’s former social media manager, expressed hope that Barron could be appointed to TikTok’s board to help ensure the app remains popular with young people, given Barron’s understanding of his generation. However, there is no indication that Barron has been offered or accepted such a position.

Throughout his time at NYU, Barron has maintained a low public profile, keeping no social media accounts and making few public appearances. He is often seen traveling in a motorcade with plainclothes Secret Service agents, a reality of being the president’s son. During his freshman year, he declined an opportunity to serve as a delegate for Florida during the Republican National Convention, citing prior commitments, though he did appear at a campaign rally in support of his father shortly before the convention.

NYU’s Washington, D.C. campus offers courses focused on politics, public policy, history, economics, and journalism. The campus is located just blocks from the White House, making it convenient for Barron to live with his parents while pursuing his education. The university has declined to provide specific details about Barron’s current campus location or schedule, citing privacy reasons.

Sources indicate that Barron has his own political ideas and continues to stay informed about current events and policy matters. President Trump has mentioned that his son has taken a keen interest in studying politics, describing the development as sort of funny. The move to the Washington, D.C. campus coincides with First Lady Melania Trump taking on a more prominent role in her husband’s second term, including spearheading anti-revenge porn legislation and being involved in diplomatic efforts.
