Revill, who co-founded the Glasgow record label Numbers, was well-known for his eclectic style and contributions to electronic music. He built a significant following with his genre-blending DJ sets, which spanned house, techno, and grime.
Revill’s passion for music began early in his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, where he worked at the iconic Rubadub record shop. He once expressed that working there allowed him to fully immerse himself in music, noting that he no longer needed to purchase records, which was an evident benefit.
Jackmaster’s career took off after his FabricLive.57 mix was released in 2011, which led to frequent performances at prominent clubs and festivals worldwide. In 2014, he earned a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix residency, and by 2016 he had won the Sub Club Electronic Music Award at the Scottish Music Awards. Although Revill faced some challenges during his career, including a brief controversy in 2018 when he was accused of assault, he was open about his struggles and worked to address them through therapy. His family shared that they were “deeply touched by the overwhelming support” from friends and fans.
Recently, Revill returned to performing and producing music. His latest release, “Nitro,” showcased his creativity and dedication to his craft. Reflecting on the current state of club culture, he shared, “I’m so grateful for my fans, but I got into music because I love dancing. It feels like a lost art form at the moment.”
