Detectives in Santa Ana, California have identified a man who killed his girlfriend and her uncle before shooting himself in a grisly murder-suicide. Police found the victims with a bloodied medieval-style spear at a storage facility last Thursday.
Police discovered 25-year-old Jordan Block and her uncle, 64-year-old Brian Xan Martin, deceased inside a storage unit on the 1200 block of East Chestnut Avenue. Cameron Delani Clark, 25, was found severely injured and transported to the hospital, where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on May 5, 2024.
Block had called authorities to report her boyfriend, Clark, had stabbed her and her uncle. When officers arrived, they found Block and Martin both shot and stabbed. Nearby, a bloody medieval-style spear was found on the sidewalk next to the storage unit.
Jessica Chandler, a friend of Martin’s, characterized him as clever, intelligent, and empathetic while highlighting his proficiency in medieval weaponry. “He was a collector who valued the knowledge and history of every piece he owned,” Chandler shared with the local media. “Every item he acquired over the years held a story, and he was deeply passionate about them, able to share a wealth of information on each one.”
Police recovered a firearm and edged weapons, including swords and knives, from the storage unit where Martin housed his collection. Chandler mentioned that Martin had roles as an expert witness in trials and helped train actors in the film industry.
Bystanders at the scene were stunned to see Martin, recognized for his kindness and expertise in swords, among the victims of the crime. “Just a really nice guy. He’s been around for a long time,” a witness recounted to KTLA. “He had back problems, but he was always friendly whenever I saw him.”
Detectives are still investigating the motive behind the killings.
