Gifted Young Actor Dies at 27 in Accident

Chance Perdomo, the British-American actor known for his roles in “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” on Netflix and “Gen V” on Amazon, died in a motorcycle accident on March 30, 2024. He was 27.

The accident took place in upstate New York, abruptly ending a promising career that had already made a significant impact in the world of television and film.

Perdomo was traveling to Toronto for a script read-through for “Gen V’s” second season when the accident occurred. His representatives confirmed that the accident involved no other parties. The actor had recently posted a picture of a motorcycle on Instagram, alluding to his preparation for the upcoming season of “Gen V,” referring to this time as the “final calm before storm.”

The unexpected death of Perdomo has deeply affected the entertainment industry. His representatives, co-stars, and the producers of “Gen V” have released statements highlighting his infectious energy, kindness, and remarkable talent. “We can’t quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person,” the producers of “Gen V” noted. Ted Sarandos, Netflix CEO, fondly remembered Perdomo as a “gifted young actor” who was a joy to work with on “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”

Born on October 19, 1996, in Los Angeles, California, and raised in England, Perdomo chose acting over law after finishing school. His detailed portrayals of diverse characters made him a standout actor in the US. His role as Ambrose Spellman, a pansexual warlock on “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” earned him widespread praise, showcasing his ability to infuse personal and societal complexities into his roles.

Aside from his most famous roles, Perdomo’s career included a variety of projects. He delivered a BAFTA-nominated performance in the BBC drama “Killed by My Debt,” and appeared in “The Cipher,” “Moominvalley,” “Midsomer Murders,” “Hetty Feather,” and the “After” film series. His untimely death has led Amazon and the producers of “Gen V” to suspend the production of the show’s second season indefinitely, underscoring the magnitude of his loss to the entertainment community.

Perdomo’s passing has sparked a wave of tributes and condolences from fans, coworkers, and loved ones, who remember him not just for his artistic contributions but also for his lively spirit and zest for life. His team released a statement saying, “His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest.” Similar sentiments have been shared across the industry, with many requesting privacy and respect for his family during this difficult time.
