A peaceful morning was disrupted at a shopping center in Dallas, Texas when a red Nissan Sentra carrying four gunmen unleashed a hail of bullets on bystanders.
The Dallas Police Department stated that the violent outbreak occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on December 27, 2023, resulting in the deaths of Moreland Smith, 51, and Jamarcus Irving, 22.
The two victims were unfortunate casualties of the shooting spree. Smith had been visiting the strip center for breakfast while Irving was also among the crowd when the gunmen started their attack.
Stephanie Sharpe, the sister of deceased Moreland Smith, recounted the pandemonium that ensued as people scrambled for cover.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, a memorial was set up at the location to honor the victims. The Dallas Police Department continues to actively search for the culprits, who have evaded capture thus far.
On January 24, 2024, exactly one month following the incident, police shared surveillance video in an attempt to gather leads. A reward of $5,000 has been offered via Crimestoppers for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The shared footage provides a glimpse into the incident, showing the red sedan entering the shopping center’s parking lot. The masked and hooded gunmen can then be seen exiting the vehicle and beginning their assault. This video has become a key element of the ongoing investigation.
