On November 17, 2023, Carrollton Police in Texas responded to a violent domestic dispute where a woman reportedly stabbed her spouse and then drove a car containing her three kids into a nearby lake.
Wei Fen Ong was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband at their Tall Knight Lane home. He is currently hospitalized but expected to survive.
After the incident with her husband, a 911 call alerted Lewisville Police, in a neighboring town, to a car driven by Ong into a lake with her children, aged eight, nine, and 12, inside. The incident near Hebron Parkway in Lewisville triggered a critical rescue operation.
Responding swiftly, first responders, including police and fire rescue units, extracted the children from the submerged car. One child was critically injured, and the other two were stable.
Ong was hospitalized and subsequently detained at the Denton County Detention Facility. She faces aggravated assault charges, with the potential for further charges pending investigation results.
According to eyewitnesses and police, the eldest child self-extricated from the vehicle, while an unconscious child was rescued and revived by an officer through CPR. The third child was saved by firefighters.
