2 Students Stabbed in High School Fight

A fight erupted at Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 1, resulting in two students being stabbed and others injured. Authorities responded promptly, placing the school on lockdown, and have since detained three students for questioning.

In the later part of the morning, a brawl involving 11 students broke out on the school’s quad. According to initial reports, one student pulled out an unidentified weapon, leading to two students suffering stab wounds. A total of four students were injured in the fight, with two of them receiving stab injuries. Fortunately, all injuries sustained were non-life-threatening.

The Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent, Alberto Carvalho, without disclosing their name, confirmed that an individual pulled out a sharp weapon during the brawl, causing injuries to two students. Additionally, two other students were hurt during the fight.

The school administration took immediate measures to ensure the safety of other students and staff by placing the school on lockdown. To further stabilize the situation, lunch was served in classrooms, preventing students from gathering in common areas and potentially exacerbating the situation.

Superintendent Carvalho addressed the incident, stating that such occurrences are unacceptable in the school district. While the superintendent expressed relief that the injuries weren’t as severe as initially feared, there was a clear emphasis on the need to review and potentially revise school policies to prevent similar events in the future.

Parents, guardians, and community members have been notified of the incident, and the school district assures them that measures are in place to prioritize the safety of all students. The investigation into the incident continues, with law enforcement and school officials working closely to find out all facts and determine necessary actions moving forward.
