A mother of four was fatally shot by a cashier at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Las Vegas, reportedly over a stolen salad.
Police reports reveal that Mallory Angel Armijo, 35, was killed by a store clerk in the early hours of Friday, June 23.
Rachel Wright, Armijo’s sister, said that the confrontation which led to her sister’s untimely death began with an argument over a stolen salad. Wright said that Armijo took the salad without paying because she wanted to feed her hungry girlfriend and they lacked the money to purchase it. This disagreement with the cashier then escalated into a physical clash outside the premises.
Wright narrated that during the tussle, the cashier attempted to grab Armijo’s purse from her, which resulted in Armijo being knocked to the ground. A Good Samaritan intervened, asking the cashier to let Armijo go. As Armijo was walking away from the scene, she was shot in the back three times and later pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital.
Wright admitted that stealing the salad was an error on her sister’s part, but she underscored that Armijo did not deserve such a violent retaliation. She portrayed Armijo as a loving mother to four children and a kind-hearted woman. Wright called the incident an unnecessary act of violence.
In addition, Wright accused the cashier, whose identity is still unknown, of having a criminal history that included previous instances of throwing hot water on a person and getting into a physical dispute in a parking lot. The cashier was still working at the 7-Eleven despite these alleged past incidents when the shooting took place.
