A father of four lost his life while doing plumbing work at Armuchee High School in Rome, Georgia.
Robert Hall, 34, a plumbing contractor, suffered a fall of nearly 20 feet down a maintenance hole while descending a ladder. Upon impact, Hall lost consciousness, and despite rescue efforts, he could not be revived. It took rescue teams approximately 45 minutes to reach him at the bottom of the hole.
Family members have suggested that methane gas present in the sewer lines might have played a role in Hall’s death.
His fiancée, Melina Rich, whom he was set to marry in October, expressed her deep sorrow over the incident.
To help with Hall’s funeral costs, a GoFundMe campaign was set up by John Burtz, the father of his intended wife, which has already attracted over $12,000 in donations.
Dr. Glenn White, the superintendent of Floyd County Schools, offered his condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledged the impact of the accident on the school community. He pledged support for those directly affected by the incident and expressed empathy for the company that has lost a valued employee.
Hall’s family members have voiced their concerns about the circumstances surrounding the accident and the rescue teams’ response time.
