Trump’s Bizarre Appearance Sends Country into Panic

President Donald Trump, 80, held a campaign rally at the Vandalia-Butler High School gymnasium in Vandalia, Ohio, on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, and Trump aide Margo Martin filmed him dancing to “YMCA” there, posting the video captioned “Trump Dance in Vandalia, OH.”

Critics on X mocked his movement. One wrote, “Hes not dancing too well,” and another wrote, “Oh how far he has fallen.”

Trump is fulfilling a pledge to hit the campaign trail every day ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. He told those attending the Vandalia rally, “Just get out and vote.”

Video From the Driveway

The dancing clip followed days of online attention to how the president moves. Video shows Trump standing outside the White House on Tuesday, Sept. 29, his left knee angled sharply inward and his right leg arched out behind him. That clip also came from Martin. In the frame, his left leg hung limp and his right hand was caked in makeup.

The footage captured the president after a luncheon with technology executives. The luncheon was billed as Super Intelligence, and Trump hosted it in the East Room. He then walked out to the White House driveway, flanked by the executives, for an impromptu 30-minute press conference unveiling an artificial intelligence agreement.

The video renewed public alarm about the president’s physical condition — alarm the footage itself cannot resolve. The video establishes no injury, no diagnosis and no cause, and none of the online theories carried medical evidence.

Commenters replied instantly and without mercy. Users demanded that an actual physician weigh in and argued over whether the stance signaled an injury or cognitive decline. Some floated the theory that a leg brace had finally become too obvious to hide, while others joked that his legs had been put on backward that morning.

IBTimes reported on Oct. 1 that no White House or physician’s statement it reviewed confirms Trump was wearing a leg brace.

Earlier on Sept. 29, Trump attended the launch of America.gov at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, where he put his signature on an executive order tied to the government services platform. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, appeared in video from that event to reach toward the president as he lowered himself into a chair.

A Week Under the Microscope

Viewers went hunting for bulges and outlines below the knees of the president’s trousers after his slow walk down the stairs from Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews on Sept. 27, and the scene sparked unverified claims that he was wearing an exoskeleton or braces. His posture drew comparisons to Danny DeVito’s Oswald Cobblepot in the 1992 film “Batman Returns” and to Vincent D’Onofrio’s Edgar the Bug in the 1997 film “Men in Black.”

On Monday, Sept. 28, Trump sat slumped behind the Resolute Desk and appeared to struggle to stay awake at his own Oval Office event announcing a new $15 billion steel plant in eastern Iowa. Moments earlier that day, he had dusted off his old nickname for his predecessor, Joe Biden, “Sleepy Joe Biden.”

On Thursday, Oct. 1, Trump toured the Peterbilt Motors Company plant in Denton, Texas. Martin posted behind-the-scenes clips captioned “@POTUS begins his tour of Peterbilt Motors Company.” Viewers focused on what they said was a bulge in his pants, reviving the diaper conspiracy theory. One X user wrote, “Why is the diaper so big?” Neither the White House nor Trump’s medical team has ever confirmed the use of adult diapers or adult incontinence products. In his speech after the tour, Trump took aim at Biden’s physical health.

What the Medical Record Says

Trump had reported mild swelling in his lower legs, the physician to the president, Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, said in July 2025, adding that testing identified chronic venous insufficiency. The memorandum described that condition as common among people over 70, and that update reported no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease, and no signs of heart failure, renal impairment or systemic illness.

The president had his annual physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on May 26. Barbabella said in a memorandum released May 29 that Trump remained in “excellent health” and reported strong cardiac, pulmonary and neurological function. The examination recorded normal motor strength, sensation, reflexes, gait and balance.

A letter entered into the Congressional Record on April 30 carried the signatures of more than 30 physicians and mental health experts, who warned that the president is deteriorating. Its signatories declared him unfit mentally and urged that he be removed from office as a matter of extreme urgency. Those doctors pointed to the more than 5,000 U.S. nuclear warheads that stand ready to launch on his order.

Trump and the White House have consistently maintained that he is in perfect health. The findings on file support that framing in broad terms, with one unavoidable limitation: the exam that recorded a normal gait was conducted in May, four months before the White House driveway footage.

Scrutiny Is Not New

Scrutiny of how Trump moves predates the latest clips. Former Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens and his son Kacy Clemens joined the president for a round at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia in August 2025, and Trump appeared there to haul his right leg behind him and move sluggishly. Ben Meiselas of MeidasTouch, reviewing that golf footage, said, “He’s dragging that right leg again, and he can’t walk in a straight line.”

Trump is the oldest person ever inaugurated as president. He is regularly photographed with dark bruises on his hands and swollen ankles, and he has been dogged by mental slip-ups and slurred words.
