Jake Hall, a 35-year-old reality television personality from “The Only Way Is Essex,” has died in what Spanish investigators believe was a freak accident at a holiday villa on the island of Majorca. British diplomats are liaising with Spanish authorities as the investigation unfolds.
The 6ft 4ins former footballer and model was discovered by Spanish Civil Guard officers in a pool of blood at a rental property in Santa Margalida, located in the northern part of the island, after they were summoned to the scene around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. News of his death emerged the next day.
Detectives believe Hall sustained catastrophic head wounds after crashing into a glass door during a party that extended into the early morning hours, with glass shards causing the fatal injuries. An autopsy is scheduled to occur in Palma, the Majorcan capital, while the investigation proceeds.
What Investigators Believe Happened
Hall and a group of friends had spent the evening out before returning to the villa to continue partying in the early morning hours, a report citing a police source revealed. At a certain point, the atmosphere inside the property deteriorated.
“It appears from what police have been told that he became agitated, possibly from alcohol and other substances he may have consumed,” a source close to the inquiry said. Authorities were also informed that the situation briefly “turned aggressive” and that Hall might have attempted self-harm by striking his head against villa fixtures before the fatal impact with the glass.
Six people staying at the residence—four men and two women—were interviewed by officers. Their nationalities have not been disclosed by authorities. Officials do not believe any arrests have been made.
Local residents described disturbing sounds in the hours preceding the police response, reporting to area journalists that they heard noises powerful enough to vibrate the walls. One neighbor said the group “hadn’t been causing problems” earlier that evening and appeared “relatively normal,” recalling he heard them conversing in English about purchasing property nearby. Then the noise changed: “I began to hear a very loud noise, as if they were drilling something. They stopped after about five minutes and then I fell asleep.”
From Essex To Reality TV Stardom
An Essex native, Hall joined the ITVBe phenomenon “The Only Way Is Essex” in 2015 and rapidly emerged as one of its most recognizable personalities. Tall, photogenic and brash, he personified the post-clubbing glamour aesthetic that turned the series into a staple of British popular culture.
In recent years, he had transformed his life, dividing his time between the U.K. and Spain while building careers as an artist and fashion entrepreneur. Majorca had become a second home where he discovered a calmer pace than the one that brought him fame, and friends say it was there he had begun to find a quieter rhythm.
That reinvention was visible in his final Instagram post, shared just hours before his death. Set to the Rolling Stones’ “Beast of Burden,” the post showed Hall painting, taking in the Spanish countryside and dabbling in fashion. “Life is bollocks sometimes but I’m gonna try remember the good things, looking through things. I’m just making art, in many forms,” he wrote.
A Turbulent Personal Life
Hall’s romantic history had frequently unfolded in the public eye. Since 2016, he maintained an on-again, off-again relationship with Missé Beqiri, who previously appeared on “The Real Housewives of Cheshire.” The couple welcomed their daughter, River, in November 2017 and announced their engagement in May 2018.
Their time together was marked by volatile confrontations. Following a heated argument that neighbors overheard in December 2018, Hall received a restraining order, and the couple eventually separated. Despite the breakup, friends indicate they maintained ties through their daughter.
Investigation Continues In Majorca
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson confirmed that officials were “supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain” and were “in contact with the local authorities.”
While investigators currently consider the incident a tragic accident, officials have warned that it remains premature to reach definitive conclusions. The Palma autopsy is anticipated to yield more definitive answers in the days ahead.
Legendary DJ Fat Tony was among the first to publicly mourn the loss, sparking an outpouring of grief from throughout the British entertainment community. Throughout Thursday, fellow TOWIE cast members and London nightlife figures continued sharing tributes.
What is already clear is the shape of what has been lost: a young father, a reality television star who had survived the spotlight long enough to start building something new, and a 35-year-old man whose final post asked only to be remembered for the good things.
