Beloved Comedy Star Dead at 62

On December 12, 2025, Jayne Trcka, renowned bodybuilder and actress, known for her role as Miss Mann in the horror-comedy “Scary Movie” (2000), passed away at her residence in San Diego, California. She was 62.

The San Diego medical examiner verified Trcka’s death. The cause of her death is yet to be determined. Reports from law enforcement sources state that a friend, concerned about Trcka’s well-being, visited her home after failing to receive any response to several phone calls. The friend found Trcka unresponsive in her kitchen, and emergency services were called to the scene where they pronounced her dead.

According to her family, Trcka had no known health issues prior to her death. Born as Jayne Marie Trcka in 1963, in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was initially a gymnast before her interest shifted to fitness, which became a significant part of her life. In 1986, she relocated to Southern California and developed a passion for weightlifting and competitive bodybuilding. By 1988, Trcka had started participating in bodybuilding competitions, making a significant mark on the sport.

During her career in bodybuilding, Trcka competed in the California State Championships and the NPC Junior Nationals. She emerged victorious in the 1997 California State Championships and won the top prize at the 1998 Junior Nationals, solidifying her reputation in the world of bodybuilding. Her accomplishments in the sport led to features in prominent fitness publications such as Flex magazine, MuscleMag International, and Women’s Physique World.

Driven by her passion for fitness, Trcka left her job at the postal service to become a personal trainer. This decision allowed her to spend more time in the gym environment and train clients while keeping up with her own demanding training schedule. Her distinctive physique and commanding presence soon attracted the attention of Hollywood casting directors.

Trcka’s career in acting took off in 2000 when she was cast as the gender-ambiguous gym teacher, Miss Mann, in “Scary Movie,” a comedy that spoofed horror films like “Scream” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” In the movie, Trcka’s character has a notable scene with Anna Faris and Marlon Wayans, portraying a PE teacher whose peculiar behavior unnerves the protagonist, Cindy Campbell.

Following the success of “Scary Movie,” Trcka had more opportunities in the entertainment industry. She featured in TV shows like “The Drew Carey Show” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” demonstrating her comedic talent and ability to leverage her unique physique.

In 2010, Trcka appeared as a prison guard in the music video for Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” which also starred Beyoncé. This appearance added another significant credit to her portfolio and introduced her to a younger audience who may not have been familiar with her bodybuilding career or her role in “Scary Movie.”

Trcka also pursued a career as a realtor in California, diversifying her professional pursuits while seeking acting roles that intrigued her. This multi-dimensional approach to her career provided her financial stability while she continued to seek interesting acting opportunities.

Her portrayal of Miss Mann in “Scary Movie” is considered a cultural landmark, using her bodybuilding physique to comedic effect while challenging and reinforcing gender norms simultaneously. The enduring popularity of the film and Trcka’s memorable character has ensured that her character remains recognizable to audiences, even two decades after its release.

The death of Trcka at age 62 signifies the loss of a trailblazer who brought women’s bodybuilding into the mainstream. Her ability to transition between competitive sports, entertainment, and business epitomizes the adaptability required for athletes to build sustainable careers post their competitive years.
