Pop singer Camryn Magness, known for opening for major touring acts including One Direction and Fifth Harmony, has died at age 26 after being struck while riding an electric scooter, her family announced.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:52 PM in Fort Myers, Florida, involving an electric scooter operated by a male with a female passenger. Multiple people sustained significant injuries in the incident, which also involved a pedestrian. All individuals were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center, where Magness succumbed to her injuries. The incident reportedly took place on December 5, 2025, though details remain under investigation.
Her death was announced on Facebook with a heartfelt tribute accompanying video footage of the singer scuba diving. “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of our beloved Camryn, a radiant force whose voice, joy, and bright spirit touched so many,” the statement read. “Whether beneath the waves or on stage, she met life with fearless energy and boundless kindness.”
Magness began her music career at age 8, recording a demo that she sent to Jeff Pringle, who became her manager. By 2010, the young performer had already secured opening slots on the Waiting 4U Tour alongside Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance, launching what would become a decade-long career performing alongside some of pop music’s biggest acts.
Her collaboration with the band Blessed by a Broken Heart resulted in the song “Wait and See,” which was featured in the 2011 film Judy Moody. The track helped establish her presence in the music industry and demonstrated her versatility as an artist.
Magness achieved significant exposure in 2012 when she joined One Direction for their inaugural headlining Up All Night Tour. The British pop sensation invited her back the following year for their 2013 Take Me Home Tour, providing the Denver, Colorado native with exposure to massive international audiences.
Her touring resume continued to grow as she opened for Fifth Harmony during their 7/27 Tour in 2016, further cementing her reputation as a sought-after opening act capable of energizing stadium crowds.
Beyond her touring accomplishments, Magness maintained an active recording career. In 2021, she released her Love Maps EP, showcasing her evolution as an artist and songwriter.
Born in Denver on July 14, 1999, Magness initially gained attention through YouTube, where she posted videos of herself singing. The platform proved instrumental in connecting her with Simpson and Chance, who noticed her talent and invited her to join their tour when she was just 11 years old.
An investigation into the collision is currently underway, with authorities working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident in Fort Myers, Florida.
Magness was engaged to her fiancé, Christian Name, with the couple building their life together. Her obituary described her as a “vibrant, fearless, and deeply loved young woman whose compassion, humor, and bright spirit touched every person blessed to know her.”
“A gifted performer, Camryn’s voice and music were extensions of her soul,” the obituary continued. “Whether she was on a stage, at a family gathering, or sharing a song with someone who needed it, Camryn’s music was a reflection of her heart, her courage, and her endless creativity.”
Magness is survived by her parents, Sarah and Gary, her siblings Chelsea and Cable, and her fiancé.
The announcement concluded with a poignant message to fans and supporters: “In the quiet between waves, her memory will surface—bright, bold, unforgotten. Rest in endless blue, our sweet girl. You are deeply loved and forever cherished.”
From her early start at age 8 to performing before thousands in sold-out arenas across multiple continents, Magness built a career defined by perseverance and passion. Her journey from posting YouTube covers to sharing stages with international superstars represented the realization of childhood dreams, cut tragically short at age 26.
The family has requested that supporters keep them in their thoughts during this difficult time, as they navigate life without their beloved daughter, sister, and fiancée whose light, they say, left this world far too soon.
