Prince Harry and Meghan Markle became the focus of social media attention after attending game four of the 2025 World Series on October 28, 2025. The couple was seen in the front row at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California, supporting the home team by wearing Los Angeles Dodgers caps while the team played against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Residing in Southern California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the couple had prime seating behind home plate, directly in front of Dodgers legend Sandy Koufax. Both were dressed in blue Dodgers caps and white shirts, showing support for Los Angeles in a game that ended with the Blue Jays winning 6-2, leveling the series at two games each.
The primary criticism was directed at Prince Harry for his decision to support the American team instead of the Canadian team, given his status as fifth in line to the British throne. King Charles III, Harry’s father, is the official head of state for Canada, which is one of the 56 Commonwealth nations historically linked to the United Kingdom.
Cody Welton, deputy chief of staff for Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s office, voiced his disapproval on social media, emphasizing the connection between Harry’s family and Canada by calling the decision “absolutely shameful.” Andrew MacDougall, former head of communications for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, criticized the choice as lacking intelligence, suggesting it would have been a more compelling media story if Harry had shown support for the opposite team from Meghan.
Ben Woodfinden, a former director of communications for Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre, accused the couple of neglecting their duties. Independent journalist Chris Tomlinson questioned whether it was worse to betray the king’s realm or to support the Dodgers. Alyn Kenji Marsh, an executive assistant for an Alberta member of parliament, commented on the irony of Harry wearing a Dodgers hat.
Dan Arnold, chief strategy officer at Ottawa-based Pollara Strategic Insights and former pollster for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, saw the situation as an opportunity for Prince William. According to Arnold, “William is one insta post in a Jays cap away from the ultimate troll job.”
Criticism was also directed at Meghan for seemingly disregarding her Canadian ties. The duchess resided in Toronto, Ontario, for approximately seven years while working on the TV show “Suits,” which she left after becoming engaged to Harry in 2017. Social media users circulated undated photos of Meghan wearing Blue Jays attire from her time in Toronto. Toronto resident Tara Greene referred to Meghan as a traitor, pointing out her rise to fame and wealth while working in the city, which eventually led to meeting Harry.
Sarnia, Ontario, Mayor Mike Bradley also commented from his personal social media account, making a sarcastic remark about the couple’s public relations strategy concerning Canadian baseball fans nationwide.
A lip-reading expert shed light on the couple’s interactions during the game. Nicola Hickling informed RadarOnline that after waving to the crowd, Meghan told an aide that she needed to leave quickly and was anticipating something. She then asked Harry if anyone was there, to which he reportedly replied that he couldn’t see. Meghan playfully pointed out someone to Harry and commented that the experience was enjoyable.
The couple was among approximately 53,000 attendees at the event, which also attracted celebrities like Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber, who attended the previous game that became the second-longest MLB postseason game ever, lasting six hours and 39 minutes over 18 innings. Sydney Sweeney attended game four with professional boxer Christy Martin, whom she portrays in a film set to release on November 7, 2025.
Meghan’s association with the Dodgers extends beyond living in Los Angeles. The team represents her hometown, and she has been seen wearing Dodgers caps multiple times, including during the California wildfires earlier this year. Her consistent support for the team is well-documented, with a website dedicated to her style featuring blue and green versions of the cap.
Their appearance at the game coincided with the launch of Meghan’s first holiday collection for her lifestyle brand As Ever, which includes elements referencing Harry and their children. The collection features hand-poured candles, artisanal fruit spreads, golden California honey, and celebratory wines, intended to enhance occasions with beauty and warmth.
While this was Harry’s first World Series game, the couple had previously attended a regular-season MLB game in London between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees in 2019, marking the first regular-season MLB game played in Europe.
