Syrian actress and former Miss Asia World, Angy Morad, has died at the age of 33 following complications from a viral infection she contracted during her second pregnancy.
Morad was admitted to intensive care in late January after her condition deteriorated, with reports indicating she had been battling pneumonia before hospitalization. The TV star passed away on February 9 following weeks of treatment.
Days before her death, Morad shared a concerning message with her followers on Facebook, writing: “I am dying, forgive me.”
Her husband Samer had updated fans about her critical condition, posting on social media: “Angy is in a difficult situation between life and death. Please pray for her.”
Following her passing, Morad’s mother confirmed the death on social media, writing: “May God have mercy on you, my daughter.”
Morad’s health complications reportedly began with inflammation in her body, for which she was advised to undergo tests in Lebanon. According to multiple reports, no virus was initially detected, but a minor infection developed into a severe one that Morad allegedly neglected. Her condition worsened significantly during her pregnancy, leading to serious lung complications.
Born in Damascus, Syria in 1992, Morad graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and began her acting career in 2007. She gained popularity for her roles in Syrian drama series such as “Baqaa Daw 13” and “Al-Gharib.”
Morad found international recognition in 2017 when she was crowned Miss Asia World. After a brief hiatus from the entertainment industry in 2020, she had recently returned to acting in the series “Souq Al Haramia,” which began airing in January 2025.
There are conflicting reports about whether Morad died during pregnancy or after giving birth. Some sources indicate she passed away while still pregnant, while others report that both she and her newborn baby died during delivery.
“She was experiencing inflammation in her body and was advised to take some medicines, but she was afraid to do so,” her mother Annie Orfalla reportedly revealed, according to some sources. This hesitation apparently led to a severe infection that rapidly deteriorated her health.
Prior to her illness, Morad had established herself as a popular television personality in the Middle East. Her career spanned over 15 years, during which she appeared in numerous Syrian television productions and gained a substantial following.
The actress’ Facebook post, where she expressed that she was dying, sparked concern among her fans and went viral after her death. The message indicated she was aware of her declining health condition in the days leading up to her hospitalization.
Morad is survived by her husband Samer Hakky and their young daughter, who is reportedly four years old. Her husband expressed his grief on social media following her death.
The Syrian entertainment industry mourned the loss of the young star, with colleagues and fans paying tribute to her talent and career achievements. Her passing marks a significant loss for Syrian television, where she had become a familiar face through her various dramatic roles.
Morad’s death comes amid news of other influencers and content creators who have recently passed away due to health complications. Brazilian influencer Laleska Alexandre reportedly died after suffering complications from an ovarian infection, while beauty content creator Lilian Martins Gomes, known as Lili Spada to her million Instagram followers, died of cancer at the age of 42 in December 2024.
Morad’s story has gained international attention, with media outlets across the globe reporting on the circumstances surrounding her death. Her final message to fans has resonated with many, highlighting the sudden and unexpected nature of her passing.
