Prince Harry Speaks Out About Divorce Gossip

At The New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, aged 40, responded to ongoing tabloid speculation about his marriage to Meghan Markle. The event took place in New York City on December 4.

The Duke entered into a conversation with moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin, where he discussed the relentless media focus on his relationship with his wife Meghan Markle, especially when they attend events separately.

Prince Harry, son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana and accustomed to life in the royal limelight, conveyed that such intense examination of his personal life was far from beneficial.

During the summit, Harry stated, “Apparently we’ve bought or moved houses 10, 12 times,” “We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?”

Prince Harry highlighted that the heightened public curiosity in their relationship is “definitely not a good thing,” expressing empathy for online critics who continuously predict their separation.

He confessed that the attention and gossip can become overwhelming, leading him to ignore it. He stated he feels sympathy for those who feed the rumor mill, as their expectations often lead to disappointment when they don’t come to fruition.

Meghan attended the Paley Honors Fall Gala in California, where she walked the red carpet alongside Tyler Perry, the evening’s honoree. During the event, Tyler shared a heartfelt glimpse into Harry and Meghan’s bond, telling E! News, “They love each other. They have a beautiful family, and I just want the best for them.” Reflecting on his connection with the Sussexes, he added, “It’s a real, pure and beautiful friendship. I love them.”

Since stepping back from their senior royal duties in 2020, the couple has remained committed to their philanthropic efforts through the Archewell Foundation, all the while raising their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, in California.

A source close to the couple revealed that it’s quite common for married partners to have separate schedules, especially while raising young children. The source further emphasized that individual appearances should not be construed as indications of strained relationships.

Harry acknowledged at the summit that his comments may be misinterpreted by the media, but his primary focus remains on being “the best father and the best husband” he can be.

Since moving to the United States, the Sussexes have embarked on different professional journeys, with Harry focusing on philanthropic initiatives, while Meghan pursues entrepreneurial ventures.
