In the early hours of December 25, 2024, a tragic shooting outside an IHOP restaurant in Miramar, Florida resulted in the deaths of two women and left a man hospitalized. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the IHOP located at 11302 Miramar Parkway.
Miramar, located in southern Broward County near the Miami-Dade County border, is known for its diverse communities, family-friendly neighborhoods, and thriving business districts.
Miramar Police officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered three adults with gunshot wounds. All three were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, where the two female victims were pronounced dead. The male victim remains hospitalized under police guard; authorities have confirmed he is not a suspect and is expected to assist with the investigation.
Investigators have determined that the individuals involved knew each other and the victims were targeted. “We want to reassure the public that this wasn’t a random act of violence,” said Janice McIntosh, spokeswoman for the Miramar Police Department.
Crime scene detectives worked through the morning, meticulously searching the area for evidence. They used flashlights and metal detectors to comb through nearby bushes and collected multiple shell casings from the scene. Two vehicles, including a black BMW and a white Acura with visible bloodstains and a bullet hole, were towed from the parking lot as part of the investigation.
The IHOP restaurant, a popular 24-hour establishment, was open during the shooting. Police interviewed patrons inside to gather additional information.
The names of any victims have not been released. Police said they were not looking for any suspects but declined to give further information.
This incident adds to a series of violent events in Miramar in recent months. In October, a shooting outside a Dunkin’ Donuts on Miramar Parkway resulted in one death and another injury, with police still investigating the motive.
In September, a murder-suicide in the Windsor Palms gated community left two individuals dead after a 43-year-old man fatally shot a 40-year-old woman before taking his own life.
These events have heightened concerns about public safety in the area, though Miramar is generally considered safer than many nearby communities.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the Christmas morning shooting to come forward. Broward County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to additional details about the incident.
