Former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan has revealed that President-elect Donald Trump is considering him to lead the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, a position that would put the WWE Hall of Famer in charge of national fitness policy.
During a Fox News interview with Brian Kilmeade on Saturday, November 23, Hogan shared details of a conversation with Trump at Madison Square Garden in New York City. “My president said, ‘You know something, you’d be great to run the President’s Council on Physical Fitness,'” Hogan recounted.
The President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition serves as a federal advisory panel focused on promoting healthy eating habits and physical activity among Americans. The current council’s term extends through September 30, 2025.
Hogan, 71, has maintained his own physical fitness regimen well into his later years, a factor that Trump reportedly highlighted during their discussion. According to Hogan, Trump suggested that his fitness level at his age would make him an ideal candidate to “get all the kids in America in shape.”
The conversation between Trump and Hogan extended beyond fitness to include concerns about nutrition in America. Hogan expressed particular worry about food quality, stating that “many foreign countries won’t even let their people eat the food that we eat here in America.”
This potential appointment comes as Trump assembles his incoming administration, which includes naming Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. Kennedy’s appointment has drawn attention from health-care groups and experts due to his positions on various health policies.
While Hogan acknowledged the possibility of serving in the administration, he also noted his current semi-retired status. “I’m kind of a beach bum,” he said, though he didn’t rule out accepting the position if officially offered.
The President’s Council on Physical Fitness has historically focused on promoting exercise and healthy living among Americans, particularly youth. If appointed, Hogan would be responsible for advising the president on policies related to physical activity and nutrition.
No official announcement regarding Hogan’s appointment has been made by the Trump transition team. The wrestling legend has been a vocal supporter of Trump and has made several appearances at campaign rallies.
