Eric Trump, son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, launched a pointed critique of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle while expressing strong support for other members of the British royal family.
In recent October 2024 statements, Trump declared that Americans have little interest in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stating “no one in America gives a damn” about Prince Harry or his wife.
Trump described Prince Harry as a “black sheep who doesn’t exactly know where he is, led by a wife that is pretty unpopular.”
In response to speculation surrounding Prince Harry’s U.S. visa status, Trump downplayed any concerns about possible deportation, even in the event of his father’s return to office. He remarked that the couple has taken an extreme path, calling their choices since stepping away from royal duties disheartening.
While critical of the Sussexes, Trump expressed admiration for other members of the Royal Family. He praised the late Queen Elizabeth II for welcoming his father to the palace in 2019 and voiced respect for the current monarch, King Charles III. According to Eric Trump, the Trump family maintains “tremendous respect for the monarchy.”
Eric Trump offered notable praise for Prince William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, observing that they have always acted impeccably. He highlighted Princess Catherine in particular, applauding her for her exemplary conduct and steadfast role within the next generation of the Royal Family.
Eric Trump’s comments come amid ongoing scrutiny of Prince Harry’s immigration status following admissions of past drug use in his memoir “Spare.” A right-wing think tank has filed legal action against the Biden administration, seeking the release of Harry’s immigration papers. However, Trump dismissed the significance of the drug use allegations, stating they “mean nothing” to him.
The relationship between the Trump family and the British monarchy has been a hot topic since Donald Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom. Eric Trump emphasized that his father “loved the Queen” and maintained positive relations with the Royal Family throughout his presidency.
