In a recent interaction with “Entertainment Tonight,” Ben Affleck expressed admiration for Jennifer Lopez’s acting in their forthcoming film “Unstoppable,” amidst their ongoing divorce case.
Affleck, a 52-year-old actor and director who also produced the sports drama through his Artists Equity production company, praised Lopez during a promotional event with Matt Damon and Cillian Murphy for a different project. He stated, “Jennifer is spectacular.”
“Unstoppable is a distinctive film, but it shares a common thread of being grounded in the fervor of highly skilled artists,” Affleck added. “Goldenberg, Jennifer, Don Cheadle, Jharrel, and Bobby Cannavale – all demonstrated extraordinary passion for this film.”
“Unstoppable,” directed by William Goldenberg, stars Lopez in the role of Judy Robles, the mother of Arizona State University wrestler Anthony Robles, played by Jharrel Jerome. The film tells the true tale of Anthony’s journey as a successful athlete born with one leg.
In response to Affleck’s remarks, Lopez acknowledged the collective efforts of the entire cast and crew behind the film’s success.
The professional exchange occurs amidst their divorce process, which started when Lopez, aged 55, filed for divorce in August 2024, exactly two years after their nuptial ceremony at Affleck’s property near Savannah, Georgia. They first tied the knot in a low-key ceremony at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 16, 2022.
The couple’s relationship dates back to 2001 when they met on the set of “Gigli.” Their first engagement in 2002 was called off in 2004, followed by separate marriages – Affleck to Jennifer Garner and Lopez to Marc Anthony. Their relationship was reignited in April 2021 following Lopez’s split from Alex Rodriguez.
Despite the divorce, Affleck and Lopez continue to maintain their professional connection through “Unstoppable,” scheduled for release in theaters on December 6. The film symbolizes a joint effort through Artists Equity, the production company Affleck established with his long-time friend, Matt Damon.
Lopez and Affleck share a blended family. Lopez is the mother to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme from her marriage to Marc Anthony, while Affleck has three children from his marriage to Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
