WWE Stars Create Buzz With Election Endorsement

Former President Donald Trump received a unique endorsement from two WWE Hall of Fame wrestlers in a social media video posted Friday, October 18, 2024. Mark Callaway, better known as The Undertaker, and Glenn Jacobs, known as Kane, appeared alongside Trump in a TikTok video urging voters to support the former president in the upcoming election.

Callaway addresses viewers in the video, which has garnered over a million likes on Trump’s official TikTok account, saying: “All right everyone. Nov. 5 – ElectionMania. The choice is yours. You can go with President Trump, Kane and The Undertaker or you can take Kamala Harris, Dave Bautista and Tim Walz. Choose wisely – the nation depends on it.” Sitting between the two wrestling icons, Trump adds: “And that should be an easy choice.”

The endorsement comes after another former WWE star, Dave Bautista, criticized Trump earlier in the week. Bautista, who has transitioned to a successful acting career, made a video criticizing Trump and questioning his toughness. The Trump campaign responded by calling Bautista a “stone-cold loser” and mocking his WWE career.

This is not the first time Trump has been associated with professional wrestling. The former president is a WWE Hall of Famer, having been inducted in 2013. He has appeared at several early WrestleMania events and was involved in a high-profile “Hair vs. Hair” match storyline with WWE CEO Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 23 in 2007.

The involvement of Callaway and Jacobs in political endorsements is noteworthy, given their legendary status in the world of professional wrestling. As The Undertaker, Callaway was known for his intimidating presence and supernatural gimmick, while Jacobs, as Kane, portrayed a masked monster character. Together, they formed a formidable tag team called the Brothers of Destruction.

Jacobs has political experience, currently serving as the Republican mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, since 2018. His transition from professional wrestling to politics adds weight to his endorsement of Trump.

As the November 5 election approaches, Trump and his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, intensify their efforts to secure votes. The involvement of high-profile figures from the entertainment world, such as Callaway and Jacobs, highlights the increasingly blurred lines between politics and popular culture in modern campaigns.

Reports suggest that Trump’s connection with the wrestling world may extend beyond this endorsement. He has reportedly agreed to be interviewed by Callaway on his “Six Feet Under” podcast, potentially providing another platform for the former president to reach voters ahead of the election.

As the campaign intensifies, it remains to be seen how this unique endorsement will impact voter perceptions and whether other entertainers or athletes will support their preferred candidates.
