Trump Makes Astonishing Admission

Former President Donald Trump has acknowledged that he sometimes regrets his social media posts, particularly when he reposts content from others without fully understanding the context. The admission came during a recent interview on Lex Fridman’s podcast. In the interview, Trump discussed his activity on Truth Social, the platform he helped launch in 2021.

Friedman asked Trump if he ever second-guesses his social media posts. Trump replied that yes, he does have some regrets … but only every once in a while. He emphasized that these regrets are infrequent, suggesting he stands by most of his posts.

The former president provided more details about his regrets on social media, noting that they primarily arise when he shares content created by others. Trump mentioned that occasionally, these individuals are associated with groups he should not be endorsing. He further commented that he finds it less problematic to post his original thoughts.

This admission comes after a recent controversy surrounding a re-post made by Trump on Truth Social. The post in question featured a crude sexual reference to Vice President Kamala Harris, drawing widespread criticism and accusations of sexism. The controversial re-post showed a picture of Harris and Hillary Clinton with the caption, “Funny how (expletive)’s impacted both their careers differently.” This post was seen as a jab at Harris’ past relationship with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, a subject of right-wing attacks. It’s also a shot at President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky.

The controversial post has been widely criticized for its inappropriate and sexist content. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper commented on the severity of these posts, suggesting they represent a significant escalation in Trump’s campaign tactics. Cooper emphasized that the posts were directed at two women considered among the most successful and influential figures in American politics.

Despite widespread criticism, Trump’s supporters stand by his social media behavior. The Republican vice presidential candidate, JD Vance, characterized Trump as a political figure who breaks traditional norms, enjoying humor and lighthearted moments in his campaign. Vance’s comments suggest that Trump’s supporters view his controversial posts as a reflection of his unconventional and entertaining approach to politics rather than as inappropriate behavior.

Trump seems to view Truth Social positively, referring to it as his “typewriter” and stating it has worked out pretty well for him. He even admitted to sometimes posting from bed, highlighting the casual nature of his social media use.

Several Republican strategists have voiced their dissatisfaction with Trump’s social media tactics. Jason Roe, a strategist within the Republican party, contended that Harris’s campaign and policy positions presented opportunities for Trump’s team to address topics of genuine importance to undecided voters. However, Roe expressed disappointment that Trump has engaged in what he considers trivial and unproductive content instead of seizing these opportunities.

The impact of Trump’s social media activity on his political prospects remains to be seen.
