In her first TV interview in two years, Melania Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration for ongoing national issues. The interview was conducted on “Fox & Friends” on September 26.
Melania Trump, 54, cited several problems she perceives as resulting from the Biden and Harris administration’s failures. She stated that American citizens are “suffering” due to their policy decisions.
“The record speaks for itself,” Melania said, referencing the administration’s performance. She further stated that Harris and Biden have created a situation where people cannot afford basic family necessities.
She also highlighted international conflicts and domestic security issues, such as the southern border situation. “We have wars going on around the world. Soldiers are dying. They were dying under this administration because of weak leadership. The border is open and dangerous. A lot of fentanyl is coming over, killing our youth. It’s very hard to see,” she said.
Although she didn’t mention Biden or Harris by name, her criticisms were clear. Melania used the interview as a platform to urge Americans to vote for change in the upcoming November 5th election, saying, “The fate of the country is in the people’s hands.”
Her public comments coincide with her husband, former President Donald Trump’s, campaign for another presidential term. She strongly endorsed him as the candidate who could restore prosperity and safety to the nation. “All [Donald Trump] wants to [do], as he says, make America great again. He wants to make this country prosperous, safe for everybody. He wants to make [the] American dream possible again,” she stated.
Throughout her tenure as First Lady, Melania Trump remained relatively under the radar. In the interview, she discussed how her previous career in the fashion industry prepared her for the public scrutiny associated with her role. “Nothing prepared me more to be first lady in front of the world than the fashion industry,” she said. “It’s glamorous, but it’s at the same time very tough. And as everybody judges you, look at you a certain way. It gives you a thick skin.”
The interview was also in conjunction with the upcoming release of her memoir, “Melania,” which is set to be published next month. In the book, she provides an intimate look into her life, from Slovenia to the White House. She has been using social media to preview the book’s content and address misconceptions about her life in the media.
She also discussed the two assassination attempts on her husband, one in Butler, Pennsylvania at a rally, and the other at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Both incidents left her shaken, but she credited the Secret Service and her husband’s resilience for his survival, referring to them as “miracles.”
Trump also opened up about her family life, disclosing that Donald Trump had encouraged her to have more children after their son, Barron. However, due to her husband’s busy schedule and her wish to effectively manage their household, they decided to have only one child.
As the 2024 election looms, Melania Trump’s recent remarks and her memoir’s release are likely to draw increased attention to her husband’s campaign. Although she has largely stayed away from politics in recent years, her comments suggest that she is steadfastly supportive of Donald Trump and his vision for America.
