Marvin Rolando Guevara Guevara, a 40-year-old resident of Boyds, Maryland, died two weeks after being struck in the head during an argument with a neighbor over his dogs running loose. The incident occurred on June 14, 2024, in the 20200 block of Bucklodge Road.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, Guevara’s dogs escaped through a hole in his fence and entered his neighbor’s property. Guevara went to retrieve the dogs and apologize, but the situation intensified into a verbal argument with a female neighbor. The argument turned physical, and Guevara was struck in the head.

“He did not deserve that,” said Flor Flores, Guevara’s daughter-in-law, who witnessed the incident and recorded part of it on her cellphone. “She went then and like slapped him on the side of his face, and she wanted to hit him again.” The video taken by Flores shows the altercation but does not capture what happened before or after the recording.

Guevara was transported to a local hospital, where he remained until he passed away on June 30, 2024. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. The Montgomery County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division is investigating the death.

“This is just something that didn’t have to happen over some dogs,” Flores stated. “We just want peace from everything. We want things to get done right.”

Guevara was known for his kindness and active involvement in his church community. His family is devastated by the loss, especially as he was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first grandchild, a granddaughter due next month.

Neighbors involved in the incident have not yet been charged with any crime. They claim that Guevara was trespassing on their property but have not provided further details. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County.

“We just want answers and for those responsible to be held accountable,” said Flores.
