A leaked video has surfaced revealing former President Donald Trump’s criticism of President Joe Biden. Trump referred to Biden as a “broken-down pile of crap” and predicted he would withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.
The Daily Beast obtained the video which shows Trump sharing these comments while seated in a golf cart with his son Barron at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
In the video, Trump begins by asking an off-camera group how he performed in a recent debate. After receiving positive feedback, Trump directed his criticism at Biden. “We kicked that old, broken-down pile of crap,” Trump is heard saying, and further described Biden as a “bad guy.”
Trump then suggested that Biden would withdraw from the race, stating, “He just quit, you know—he’s quitting the race. I got him out—and that means we have Kamala.” Trump shifted his criticism to Vice President Kamala Harris, characterizing her as “so bad” and “so pathetic.”
Trump also questioned Biden’s capacity to engage with international opponents, notably Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. “Can you imagine that guy dealing with Putin? And the president of China—who’s a fierce person? He’s a fierce man, a very tough guy,” Trump commented.
The video elicited strong responses from both the Trump and Biden campaigns. The Trump campaign issued a statement blaming the “total collapse of the Democrat Party” on Biden, whom they accused of being weak and dishonest. Advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles stated, “Every Democrat calling on Crooked Joe Biden to quit was once a supporter of Biden and his failed policies that lead to extreme inflation, an open border, and chaos at home and abroad.”
The Biden-Harris campaign responded with a statement outlining Trump’s controversial actions and policies. Spokesperson Sarafina Chitika listed several grievances against Trump, including allegations of attacking women’s rights, inciting a violent attack on the Capitol after his election loss, assaulting women, tax evasion, and rooting for economic failure.
Despite the criticism, Biden has pledged to remain in the race. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre firmly denied any intention of Biden stepping down, asserting that he is “in it to win it.” Several Democratic governors reiterated this stance after meeting with Biden, repeating the phrase “in it to win it.”
The video reignited debates within the Democratic Party about Biden’s candidacy. Some members expressed concerns about his performance and potential to defeat Trump in the November election. Polling data shows Biden trailing Trump by six points, leading to questions from Democratic leaders and voters about his ability to continue.
