Vanna White, widely recognized as the letter-turner of the popular game show “Wheel of Fortune,” is considering her options after the retirement of Pat Sajak, her co-host of 41 seasons. White, who started her journey on the show in 1982, is reportedly finding it problematic to build rapport with the new host, Ryan Seacrest.
A source quoted by the Daily Mail explained that White, 67, is facing difficulties with the new hosting dynamics. The source stated, “It is incredibly challenging for her to continue without Pat,” and added that she may be considering leaving the show before her contract ends in 2026 due to these changes.
The same insider revealed that White and Seacrest’s on-set relationship is not smooth. The source noted that White’s connection with Seacrest, 49, is not as strong as it was with Sajak, a situation that was not entirely unexpected. However, a source close to Seacrest refuted these claims by stating, “There is no truth to this story. Ryan and Vanna have started working together and are having a great time on set.”
White had recently extended her contract through the 2025-2026 season following a lengthy discussion about her compensation, which resulted in a significant pay rise. However, insiders suggest that White, having dedicated her life to the show, believes it’s time for the show to attract a younger audience. This shift, she believes, might necessitate a younger female host to join Seacrest.
Pat Sajak, who taped his last episode on June 7, expressed his deep gratitude for White, referring to her as his “professional other half.'” In his farewell remarks, Sajak said, “We’ve experienced many changes in our lives over the years but have always supported each other. Although I will greatly miss working with her, I find comfort in knowing we live only about five miles apart. So, we’ll still see each other often. She’s a remarkable woman, and I know everyone is happy she’ll be returning next season.”
Seacrest, who is slated to take the hosting reins for Season 42 in September, shared his excitement about working with White. “This is fantastic news,” Seacrest stated. “Vanna has been a cornerstone of the show and a presence in our homes for many years. I’ve been eagerly anticipating working with her, and now that it’s official, I can say, ‘Congratulations, Vanna.’ I’m looking forward to it.”
White admitted that Sajak’s retirement made her ponder her own future on the show. Expressing happiness for Sajak, she said, “I can’t imagine doing the show without him after 41 years. It’s like reading a great book—it has to end eventually. This has been the best book I’ve ever read.”
Regardless of the ongoing rumors, White’s commitment to “Wheel of Fortune” appears steadfast for now. Fans are keenly awaiting the premiere of Season 42 in September to witness the evolution of the on-screen dynamic between White and Seacrest.
