Hillary Clinton’s D-Day Message Gets Vicious Response

On the recent 80th anniversary of D-Day, a social media post by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton drew substantial controversy. Her post on X, which paralleled the historic military operation to the current political situation in the United States, triggered a wave of backlash.

“Eighty years ago today, thousands of brave Americans fought to protect democracy on the shores of Normandy. This November, all we have to do is vote,” Clinton wrote. This comment drew severe criticism from a number of veterans and conservative figures, who argued that she was diminishing the sacrifices made during one of the most crucial moments of World War II.

On June 6, 1944, thousands of Allied troops began their landing on the beaches of Normandy, France. This marked the beginning of a massive offensive that would eventually lead to the downfall of Nazi Germany. This occasion, known as D-Day, represents a crucial turning point in the war, illustrating the bravery and determination of the Allied forces. Clinton’s comparison of these historical acts of bravery to voting in an election, however, has been met with widespread disapproval and frustration.

The reaction to Clinton’s comment was swift and strong. Bonchie, a writer for RedState, characterized the comment as “just pure evil,” condemning Clinton for drawing a comparison between “the sacrifices of those who died to defeat Hitler and retake Europe with Democrats voting against Donald Trump.”

Radio host Dana Loesch extended the criticism to Clinton’s previous political actions, notably her 2016 campaign strategies. “You attempted to undo everything they fought for by partnering with Fusion GPS to launder discredited opposition in the press and convert it into surveillance warrants on enemies through FISA,” Loesch noted.

Combat veteran and author Sean Parnell expressed his dismay, stating, “It’s impossible to capture just how loathsome a comment this is. To cheapen what WWII heroes did to BS garbage politics makes me sick. Again, WWII veterans deserve so much better than this.”

“Comfortably Smug,” a conservative podcast host, portrayed Clinton’s statement as something only a “shameless, broken, lizard person” could produce, spotlighting the severe backlash the post has generated.

The remarks made by Clinton also coincide with President Joe Biden’s statements on the importance of safeguarding democracy. While Biden did not specifically mention Trump, his D-Day speech emphasized the ongoing threats to democratic institutions.
