Teen Driving 112 mph Kills Mom and 3 Kids

An 18-year-old driver, Chase Daniel Jones, faces vehicular homicide charges following a devastating car crash that claimed the lives of a mother and three children in Washington state.

Police reports indicate that Jones was driving his Audi A4 at speeds over 100 mph when he collided with a minivan in Renton, King County, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. The impact resulted in the instantaneous death of 38-year-old Andrea Hudson and three children she was transporting from a homeschooling event.

The victims have been identified as 12-year-old Boyd Buster Brown, and sisters Matilda and Eloise Wilcoxson, aged 13 and 12, respectively. The crash, which occurred on Tuesday, March 19, caused Hudson’s vehicle to hit two other cars on the road. Two of Hudson’s children who were also in the minivan are currently hospitalized with serious injuries and are in the intensive care unit.

Jones, who also suffered severe injuries in the collision, is alleged to have been grossly negligent as he ran a red light at the intersection where the crash took place.

Investigative findings suggest that the driver hit speeds of up to 112 mph in an area with a speed limit of 40 mph, and there were no indications of him attempting to brake before the collision.

Eyewitness accounts corroborate the police’s assertion of Jones’ reckless driving, as they reported seeing him weaving through traffic dangerously just moments before the crash.

King County prosecutors disclosed that this isn’t Jones’ first involvement in high-speed accidents. He had reportedly totaled two other cars in crashes attributed to excessive speed within a year prior to this fatal incident.

Jones, who is currently held on a $1M bond, is facing multiple charges. In Washington state, such offenses could lead to substantial prison time, reflecting the gravity of such irresponsible driving behavior.

On Monday, April 1, he called in from his hospital bed to make his first court appearance. He pleaded not guilty to four counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault, and reckless driving.

In the aftermath of the incident, the local community came together to remember the victims. A GoFundMe page set up for the Wilcoxson family described the sisters as “a true light to everyone around them,” highlighting their active involvement in their church, school, and neighborhood.

Boyd Buster Brown was fondly remembered by his father, Jaron Brown, as “one of the most fun-loving, adventurous kids,” a sentiment echoed by those who knew him.

Andrea Hudson, a homeschooling mother, was remembered for her commitment to her family, her love for nature, and her health-centric lifestyle. The tragedy of their loss underscores the disastrous consequences of reckless driving.
