Authorities in Woodlawn, Maryland, are actively seeking two suspects involved in the murder of a 30-year-old garbage collector, Idongesit Udosen. The incident, which occurred on April 4 at around 3:40 p.m. in the 6800 block of Greenvale Parkway, has prompted an urgent investigation.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, Udosen was discovered in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the quick response from law enforcement, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The intensity of the investigation escalated on Friday with the release of images and video footage depicting the suspects, and the vehicle implicated in Udosen’s murder. Captured on video, the suspects, who remain unidentified, were seen operating a gray Kia sedan. The vehicle was recorded driving along Greenvale Parkway before the driver parked it strategically near a parked van and next to three garbage cans.
Moments later, as Udosen arrived at the scene in his truck for a private garbage removal company, two people exited the Kia and opened fire on him before fleeing the area. The motive behind the shooting is still under active investigation, but detectives have suggested that this was not a random attack.
In response to this heinous crime, the Prince George’s County Police Department has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. Community members with any knowledge that could contribute to the capture of these suspects are urged to contact the Homicide Unit or provide anonymous tips that can help in the arrest of the suspects.
Speaking to a news outlet, Udosen’s mother lamented about the murder stating, “I want my son back, I love him. He’s a good son.”
“I can’t believe it, not around here, I really can’t believe this is happening,” said Nadi Harper, who works nearby.
