A tragic event occurred in Limeira, São Paulo, Brazil, when a newlywed bride, Elisangela Gazano, 38, died during her own wedding celebration.
Gazano, who had gotten married the day prior, was hosting a joint celebration for her wedding and her daughter’s birthday at a rented country house when she accidentally slipped into a swimming pool.
The accident took place on a sunny Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2024. Gazano, who didn’t know how to swim, was dancing near the pool when she lost her balance and fell in. Witnesses report a sudden shift from celebration to desperation as guests immediately tried to save her.
Despite the prompt reaction of the guests and the quick arrival of medical personnel, Gazano, a mother of five, suffered a cardiac arrest and was declared dead upon reaching the hospital.
Just hours before the tragic accident, Gazano had posted photos of herself on social media, dressed in a white wedding gown, signing the marriage papers. These images were intended to document her happiness, not serve as a haunting prelude to her untimely death.
Flavia Silva, a friend of the bride, shared her shock and grief in a poignant post on social media, “I saw you recently at the market, so excited about your wedding. It’s heartbreaking how quickly joy turned to sorrow on the same day. Wherever you are now, I want you to know it was a privilege to have known you.”
Limeira’s local law enforcement authorities have officially declared Gazano’s death as accidental. Although this official ruling brings a certain closure, the sudden loss has left her family and friends in shock. One friend remembered Gazano as a beacon of joy, saying, “Your joy was contagious, your laughter was the best, and when you put it together with mine, everyone stopped to look at you.”
The funeral service for Elisangela Gazano took place on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
