Elderly Couple Found Dead on Beach

On Saturday, March 9, a British couple died in an apparent drowning accident while vacationing on the Grenadine Island of Carriacou in the Caribbean.

David John Foster, 76, and his wife Rosaline, 77, were vacationing at Paradise Beach on Carriacou, which belongs to Grenada, when the incident occurred.

The Royal Grenada Police Force’s investigation into the incident suggests that the couple drowned at Paradise Beach, located near the village of L’Esterre.

David Foster was discovered unresponsive on the beach by local authorities, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Rosaline Foster was urgently transported to Princess Royal Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The investigation led by Grenadian authorities is ongoing, with a post-mortem examination anticipated to confirm the exact causes of death. According to Cpl. Ardell Lewis of the Royal Grenada Police Force, initial assessments suggest that Mr. Foster had a heart attack, and Mrs. Foster’s attempt to help him likely led to her drowning. It is not clear how their bodies ended up on the beach.

The Fosters, both retired, were reportedly visiting Grenada with family members. The Royal Grenada Police Force has expressed its commitment to a thorough investigation to clarify the circumstances leading to the Fosters’ deaths.

In the wake of the incident, the UK Foreign Office has announced it is providing assistance to the family of the deceased and coordinating with Grenadian authorities.

The loss occurred at Paradise Beach, recognized for its exceptional beauty, having been named the best Caribbean beach in 2022 for its clear and turquoise waters. Carriacou, known for its cultural heritage and natural beauty, is a popular destination for those seeking peace and scenic views.

The demise of Mr. and Mrs. Foster coincides with the unsettling news about a visiting American couple in Grenada, who are presumed dead following their yacht’s alleged takeover by three escaped convicts.

Ralph Hendry and Kathy Brandel, avid sailors, mysteriously disappeared en route to a dining establishment, on the very day the inmates eluded law enforcement.

Ron Mitchell (30), Trevon Robertson (19), and Abita Stanislaus (25) took refuge on a different island, piloting the hijacked yacht of the couple.

While the authorities have declared the couple’s deaths as murder, no physical evidence, in the form of bodies, has been uncovered to date. They were last seen on February 18, 2024.

The escapees were apprehended again on February 21, coincidentally the same day the yacht was discovered. During that period, law enforcement hinted at their prevailing investigations insinuating that the couple that owned the yacht could have lost their lives during this ordeal.

On February 22, law enforcement officials released a statement announcing that the three inmates who had broken out of a Grenadian jail on February 18 had navigated to St. Vincent aboard a yacht docked in the region of St. George in Grenada.

Commissioner Don McKenzie from the Royal Grenada Police Force reported in a press meeting on February 26 that there’s evidence suggesting that while the fugitives were voyaging between Grenada and St. Vincent, they got rid of the yacht’s owners, Hendry and Brandel.
