On Thursday, February 8, 2024, three men were found dead in the basement of a residential building on Putnam Avenue near Seneca Avenue, in Queens, New York.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) responded to a 911 call just before 7 a.m., by the brother of one of the deceased, initiating an investigation into the deaths.
The deceased included a 39-year-old male whose identity has not been revealed and two other males whose age and identity have not been disclosed pending family notification.
Found unconscious and unresponsive in the building’s cellar, emergency medical services pronounced them dead at the location.
Initial investigations by the NYPD have not suggested criminal involvement in these deaths.
A law enforcement source indicated the probability of drug overdoses being the cause of death. However, this remains part of the ongoing investigation, and final conclusions await the determination of the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which is currently examining the case.
The incident has impacted the Ridgewood neighborhood, known for its peaceful residential environment and small businesses.
Detectives from the NYPD’s 104th Precinct have been gathering information and are calling for anyone with knowledge about the incident to come forward.
As the investigation proceeds, the community is hopeful for answers that clarify the situation and provide some measure of closure to the families affected by the incident.
