She started her media career at the age of 20 as a weekend DJ at WHBQ-FM in Memphis. Hanson later transitioned to television and worked for WREG-TV before anchoring news at KAIT in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

While at KAIT, Hanson gained popularity for her lively “Dance Party Fridays,” earning her the affectionate nickname of “Dancin’ Hanson” among her colleagues.

In 2021, Hanson became a part of the Action News 5 team in Memphis, where she played a crucial role in the station’s digital innovation. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to digital journalism significantly contributed to the news team’s success.

Colleagues described Hanson as having an “infectious energy” and “unwavering dedication,” diligently working to enhance the station’s digital footprint.

Apart from her professional accomplishments, Hanson had a lifelong passion for dancing, which she started at eight years old.

Recently wedded to Darren Niedermyer, Hanson enjoyed renovating her home and shared delightful moments dancing in the kitchen with her husband, as captured in a heartwarming video shared by Action News 5.

In addition to her career, Hanson also excelled academically. She completed a master’s degree in strategic communications in 2020, further demonstrating her dedication to journalism.

K8 News, a previous employer of Hanson, confirmed her death was due to complications from a medical emergency earlier in the week. The specifics of the medical emergency have not been disclosed.

The announcement of Hanson’s death evoked a wave of tributes and sympathies from colleagues, viewers, and those who appreciated her work.
