Trump had likened his legal troubles in the U.S., including a $350 million fine for falsifying financial statements, to Navalny’s persecution, suggesting the U.S. was veering toward communism or fascism—a comparison Biden found bewildering. Pelosi, who accompanied Biden on the Marine One helicopter flight to San Francisco’s Marina Green, was praised by the president as the “best Speaker of the House there has ever been.”
