On Thursday, January 25, 2024, in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York City, a 34-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were discovered dead in their apartment, each having sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
The incident, which took place at an apartment building located at the intersection of 2nd Street and 5th Avenue, is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.
The couple, identified as Jason Jackson and his 34-year-old partner, were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the pair were in a dating relationship.
Authorities reported that Jackson’s injury seemed to be self-inflicted, indicated by the presence of a black handgun found near his body.
The discovery was made after family members, worried about not hearing from one of the deceased, hired a locksmith to gain entry into the apartment. Upon entering, they were confronted with the horrific scene.
Jason Jackson, known in the community as a singer, songwriter, and chef, was remembered by his brother, Foster Jackson, as having an angelic voice and described him as “a good kid and sweet boy, very liked in the neighborhood.”
These sentiments were echoed by Jackson’s childhood friend, Jerome, who was shocked and devastated by the news.
Jerome, who had known Jackson since birth, remembered him as “the most beautiful kid, handsome, funny” and remarked on the impact of this incident on both families and the Park Slope community.
The NYPD and homicide detectives arrived at the scene later in the morning, conducting a brief investigation but did not release further details to reporters.
The case remains under active investigation.
