In a shocking incident that has rocked the North Las Vegas community, Nick Davi, a 46-year-old pastor at Grace Point Church, was fatally shot by his neighbor, 36-year-old Joe Junio, following a dispute over property violations.
The shooting, which occurred on December 29, 2023, in front of the Davi family home in a gated community, also left Sarah Davi, Nick’s wife, wounded.
According to court documents, the conflict between the Davi family and Junio, their neighbor, intensified after complaints were made by Davi to the homeowners’ association, which in turn were shared with Junio.
These complaints pertained to her chickens and dogs, which were allegedly in violation of community rules.
In the weeks leading up to the shooting, Junio reportedly engaged in increasingly aggressive behavior, including throwing feces and rocks at the Davi property, flooding their home, and making threatening gestures.
This behavior frightened the Davi family, leading them to seek temporary protection and stay elsewhere for safety.
The fatal encounter occurred as the Davi family, including their two children, was preparing to leave their home.
Junio, who drove by and stopped near the Davi family, confronted them. When Nick Davi inquired about her problem, Junio reportedly got out of her car and began shooting, striking Nick in the stomach, and then Sarah. Nick Davi died from his injuries later at the hospital.
The Davi children, aged 12 and 15, watched the horror from inside a nearby car. One of the children captured the entire incident on video, providing critical evidence for the ongoing legal proceedings.
Sarah Davi has since filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Junio, seeking unspecified damages. Although the homeowners association was not named, the lawsuit alleges that the association was aware of the complaints against Junio and should have known her potential for violent retaliation. It also claims that Junio did not have a permit for the firearm used in the shooting.
Junio, who is being held on $300,000 bail, faces multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, and child abuse. The case has garnered significant attention, with the preliminary court hearing scheduled for March 2024.
Colleagues and friends remembered Nick Davi as a man of peace, known for his kindness and contributions to the church and local community. A memorial service held for Davi drew a large number of attendees, reflecting the impact he had on many lives.
