On December 28, 2023, the bodies of Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife Teena Kamal, 54, and their daughter Ariana Kamal, 18, were discovered in their $6.7 million Dover, Massachusetts residence. The luxury property, located at 8 Wilson’s Way, is approximately 19 miles outside of Boston. The victims were identified by family members.
The grim discovery was made by a relative who visited the mansion around 7:30 pm after failing to reach the Kamal family for a period of one to two days. Upon finding the bodies, the relative immediately alerted authorities, which prompted the arrival of Dover police and state troopers on the scene.
Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey, who is leading the investigation, disclosed that a firearm was found near Rakesh Kamal’s body. Preliminary findings suggest the deaths resulted from domestic violence, although the official cause and manner of death are yet to be determined by the medical examiner. To date, there has been no indication of a third-party involvement in the incident.
The Kamal family lived in Dover, one of Massachusetts’ most affluent communities. The family’s daughter, Ariana Kamal, was enrolled at Middlebury College at the time of her death. The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement worked overnight to gather evidence at the crime scene.
Despite the shocking incident, District Attorney Morrissey reassured the Dover community that based on available evidence there was no ongoing threat. He also highlighted that no previous police reports or domestic disputes were recorded at the Kamal residence or within the surrounding neighborhood. However, Boston 25 News uncovered documents related to a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing by the family in September 2022.
The tragic incident marks the first homicide in Dover since 2020 and has cast a somber mood over the town.
