A 35-year-old mother and her three children were found dead inside a burning home in Madison, Indiana, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, according to police.
Emergency responders were alerted to the situation and arrived at the scene to find the home engulfed in flames.
The Indiana State Police, in conjunction with local authorities, revealed that all four victims, Naomi Briner, 35, and her three children, Adelia, 12, Leland, 8, and Iyla, 6, had suffered gunshot wounds prior to the fire.
Autopsies were scheduled in Hamilton County, Ohio, about 80 miles from Jefferson County, to officially determine the causes of death.
The Indiana State Police are working in collaboration with the Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office, the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the incident. No suspects have been named.
