In a secluded woodland in Eden, Vermont, authorities identified the bodies of Jahim Solomon of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and Eric White of Chicopee, Massachusetts, both 21.
The two had been missing since October 15, 2023, and were last known to be in contact a few days before this date. They had traveled through various cities, including Burlington and Morrisville in Vermont and Lowell in Massachusetts.
Their disappearance, initially tagged by the Vermont State Police as under “suspicious circumstances,” took a dark turn with this discovery.
Major Dan Trudeau of the Vermont State Police’s criminal division, in a Wednesday press briefing, confirmed no arrests related to the case. Thursday’s autopsies cemented the grim reality the victims’ families feared.
Authorities are now treating the incident as a potential homicide.
Major Trudeau revealed that the investigation directed them to the location where Solomon and White were found, separated by less than a mile. The probe has zeroed in on several potential suspects, mainly from northern Vermont, but securing a consistent narrative from those interviewed has been challenging. “It’s been complicated to get a true story from many of the people we’ve spoken to,” he remarked. He also noted the difficulty in locating certain pivotal individuals, with some evading the police.
Trudeau reaffirmed the police’s commitment to uncover the truth, as Vermont residents await further clarity.
