A beloved third-grade teacher at Still Elementary School in Cobb County, Georgia, and mother of two children, was fatally shot by her estranged husband in her Dallas, Georgia, home on October 28, 2023.
The tragedy happened during the second of two separate break-ins on the same day, both orchestrated by Tyron Lambert, 42, the victim’s ex-partner.
Around midnight, Lambert made his first unauthorized entry into the home of 37-year-old Jasmyn Lambert. Forcing his way through the backdoor to gain access, he entered the home and threatened several people with a firearm. The authorities were alerted to the disturbance, prompting Lambert to vacate the house before their arrival.
However, this would not end Lambert’s tirade of terror. At approximately 7:15 a.m., local law enforcement received another distress call indicating that Lambert had returned to his wife’s home, still armed with his weapon. Responding officers were met with the sound of gunshots as they approached the home.
Upon entry, they discovered Jasmyn gravely wounded. Efforts were made to save her life, and she was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Regrettably, despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Lambert tried to flee the crime scene, but after a brief physical altercation between him and the responding officers, he was successfully apprehended. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Paulding County Jail. He is facing several serious charges, including murder and criminal trespass.
Jasmyn Lambert’s death has left a significant void in the Cobb County community, especially at Still Elementary School. She was recognized for her warm nature and was popular among the school’s students. The school district, expressing their sorrow at the loss, highlighted her significant impact and the profound legacy she leaves behind.
